Sorry SJWs, But Sexual Orientation is Not Analogous to Race

While at this point in my life I have become accustomed to the staggering depths of intellectual dishonesty to which leftists will descend to make a point, I am still somewhat shocked by the ease with which so many of them claim that the contemporary drive to undermine the traditional family through the redefinition of ancient institutions and the toleration and normalization of sexual deviancy for LGBTMNOPQRSXYZ "rights" is analogous to blacks' struggle during the American Civil Rights Movement.

Let's start with the obvious, shall we? It is completely ridiculous to compare race - an inescapable genetic fact - to one's personal proclivities in the bedroom. Despite the clarion calls of "born that way", all serious scientific and anthropological research suggests such a notion is hogwash. Even if that weren't the case, homosexuals have two very important abilities blacks never had: the ability to lie about being homosexual, and the ability to not act on being homosexual. A man's race, however, is written on his face, undeniable and visible for all the world to see.

There's a reason the Civil Rights Movement is called the Civil Rights Movement and not the Black Rights Movement. Unlike homosexual activists today, the leaders of the Civil Rights Movement weren't demanding special privileges, but rather the civil rights that were already guaranteed to them as citizens of the U.S. yet being denied, in certain or total respects, by individual States. The fact is that homosexuals never experienced the sort of oppression and systematic discrimination that black people in America faced.

Homosexuals are ubiquitous in the entertainment and news media, some of the most beloved personalities in those industries, and unlike their mid-century black peers, they are not relegated to separate record stores or TV and radio stations. Homosexuals, as a group, were never kept as slaves. There is no law banning them from voting, or laws specifically designed to achieve that effect. Homosexuals are not, nor have they ever been, subject to segregation. They are not forced to use separate and substandard public accommodation - separate lunch counters, bus seats, water fountains, or schools. There was never a nation-wide epidemic of gay lynchings.

So please, social justice warriors of the world, stop with this wrong-side-of-history, gays-are-the-new-black hyperbole. You're not fooling anyone but yourselves. It is historically inaccurate, distasteful, and incredibly offensive to black Americans. Just stop it.
